Philippines 2019
It was a funny moment when I ran into a friend from university at the cinema by chance. We had arranged to meet in front of the cinema and realized we wanted to see the same film. We even ended up finding out that we were sitting next to each other.
He told me he was planning an adventure in the Philippines and invited me to come along. I agreed immediately, as I am always open to new adventures. We also wanted to visit another friend from university who lived on Palawan.
The journey was really long. First we took a train to Prague, then flew to London. From there we had the longest flight to Hong Kong before continuing to the Philippines. In total the trip took almost 24 hours, and it was my first flight to East Asia.
The Batad Rice Terraces
After arriving in Manila we immediately traveled north to visit the famous rice terraces. They were breathtaking — I had never seen anything like it before. Everything was completely different from anything I had experienced before. The Batad rice terraces in particular were simply incredibly beautiful.
Palawan
Then we returned to Manila and finally flew on to Palawan, to the city of Puerto Princesa, where we met our friend from university. It was really great to see him again. He showed us many places in and around the city and gave us lots of helpful tips.
We rented scooters and explored Palawan on our own. We rode from place to place, visited many beaches, tasted local food and met interesting people. A road trip by scooter on the island was a truly special experience.
We enjoyed this time very much and were delighted by the island. After finishing our road trip we met up with our friends one more time. After that we unfortunately had to fly back to Central Europe.
